Expansion of the existing fuel farm
Qatar – Hamad Airport
Project Description:
Expansion of the existing fuel farm with an additional 36,000 m³ capacity (4 tanks of 9,000 m³ each), together with a new 90,000 m³ fuel farm (6 tanks of 15,000 m³ each), a new hydrant refuelling system serving the new terminal, and new 20” and 24” pipelines for the transfer of Jet A-1 fuel from the refineries to the fuel farms. The project also included interconnection of the outlet lines of both fuel farms to serve all hydrant pits.
- Ultimate objective: to ensure the safe receipt, storage, and distribution of Jet A-1 fuel for aircraft refuelling in full compliance with industry standards.
- Development of Method Statements (MS) for fuel farms and hydrant facilities covering filling, soak testing, flushing, and commissioning.
- The MS was developed in full compliance with JIG 2 – Aviation Fuel Quality Control and Operating Standards for Airport Depots and Hydrant Systems, Issue 13, September 2021, together with all relevant standards, equipment performance specifications, and recommended practices, including EI/JIG 1530, EI 1540, EI 1550, EI 1560, EI 1585 , and others.
- On-site commissioning and training of fuel operations personnel in all aspects of fuel handling and filtration in accordance with JIG Standards.
